The Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order 2017 (SI 2017/175) increases the limit applying to certain awards of employment tribunals, and other amounts payable under employment legislation.
Tribunal compensation limits will increase on 6 April 2017 under the Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order 2017 (SI 2017/175). The maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal will rise from £78,962 to £80,541. The maximum amount of a week’s pay, used to calculate statutory redundancy payments and various awards including the basic and additional awards for unfair dismissal, also rises from £479 to £489.
The Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order 2017 (SI 2017/175) has been laid before Parliament and will revise compensation limits for certain tribunal awards and other statutory payments from 6 April 2017.
In cases involving dismissal, the new figures will apply where the effective date of termination falls on or after 6 April 2017.
Article 4 of the Order preserves the limits previously in force in relation to cases where the effective date of termination falls before 6 April 2016.
The increases are based on the September RPI which increased by 2.0% since the previous year.
