Competition law The UK Competition Act 1998 was enacted on 9 November 1998 and came into effect on 1st March 2000. The Act introduces into UK law prohibitions on anti-competitive agreements (the Chapter I prohibition) and abuse of dominance (the Chapter II prohibition) modelled on Articles 81 and 82 of the European Treaties.
